personality: cunning and intelligent, but only sees value in herself when others desire her. she doesnt really know who she truly is, shes basically made herself into whatever she believes will make people fall for her the most. she is genuinely a sweet and fun gal, but so much is played up, its just what shes stuck with now, but she doesn’t know what she wants. she always seems to be ten steps ahead of whoever shes pursuing, everythings always planned out, she thinks she has them all figured out within a moment of knowing them. super manipulative due to her constant yearning to be loved. deep down, though, she’s truly hyper analytical of herself to a fault, she knows that what she does to people is wrong, stringing them along and all, but she doesn’t know who she is when she isnt being pursued. she's both full of guilt of what she does and is unable to stop herself because this is the only way she knows how to live.

lola is the namesake of her story, and she's also a protagonist, and an antagonist, kinda. her whole thing is that she just wants to be loved SO much that her entire identity, existence, even, revolves around whatever pleases others most. shes almost made it into a game, attracting people. i guess on the outside you could see her as the sort of hot mastermind type but she really just is an insecure girl with no sense of identity outside of hyper analysis and whatever she makes herself for others. Sad! within her story she attracts poor little sawyer down there and theyre basically toxic codependent yuri for a bit. also ill-fated soulmates! how terrible!

personality: outwardly aloof and unenthusiastic, but very observant others. constantly looking for an escape from reality. never gets close to anyone enough to show her real self. mostly closed off but whenever she does let someone in, she is truly a good friend. relies on escapism & keeping busy as to not think about herself, when she does, she is very self conscious and loathing, she rather keeps the attention on others. has very much internalised being a ‘weird’ person without friends.

sawyer is the other protagonist of this story, and really, the only other important character. its a metaphor, dammit! shes kinda quiet kinda anxious and weird and has no friends LOL! poor thing. she mostly keeps to herself and doesnt talk unless someone else talks to her. and when lola comes into the picture and seems to really get her and go out of her way to talk to her its like... woah!!! im not totally worthless and unlovable and people have the capacity to know me and like me??? haha... shes had a few cases of limerence (look it up) in the past and lola is no exception! except she is because sawyer is actually madly in love with her! well who isn't, really? haha. hope that doesn't end badly for anyone!
